It shows prism-like qualities, with colors ranging from completely transparent to opaque with hues ranging from yellow, green, blue, purple, red. Quartz has been used since ancient Greek times, where the mineral was originally believed to be a form of supercooled permanently solidified ice.  We love it because of the versatility it offers with its myriad of colors it is found in nature in and its hardness and durability.
